History

My great grandfather CJ Howard started the business back in 1889 when he purchased the shop and premises in Fye Bridge Street, which we still trade from today. Many things have changed in the 120 years apart from supplying the best quality fish and service. Fish originally came from local ports such as Lowestoft, Great and Southwold. Herring and haddock were a large part of the business

being oak smoked on the premises daily and became a speciality. Cromer crab used to be cooked on the premises until the mid 1990’s. During the winter months when fish supplies were short, wild game and in particular wild rabbits from the Thetford Warrens were our speciality. Although we no longer have smoke houses or cook on the premises, by using trusted suppliers we continue to provide our customers with the quality and service they deserve.
